Female Rider Motorcycle Maintenance Afternoon at The Tap.

Sorrymate Female Rider Maintenance Afternoon 12th April | The Tap, Eastham Ferry

At Sorrymate, we’re proud to stand with the biking community – and that means creating events that genuinely support, empower and connect riders.

On Saturday 12th April at 12pm, we’re hosting something a little different. Our Female Rider Maintenance Afternoon is taking place at The Tap, Eastham Ferry, Wirral, and it’s designed specifically to give female riders more confidence when it comes to understanding and maintaining their motorcycles.

This isn’t a lecture. It’s not a classroom. It’s a hands-on, relaxed and welcoming afternoon built around practical knowledge, real-world advice, and community support.

Why We’re Hosting This Event

Motorcycling is freedom. It’s independence. It’s community.

But too often, riders – particularly women – are made to feel unsure or overlooked when it comes to the mechanical side of things. Knowing the basics of motorcycle maintenance isn’t about replacing your mechanic. It’s about confidence. It’s about safety. And it’s about feeling fully in control of your ride.

As bikers ourselves, we understand how important that confidence is.

This afternoon is about creating a supportive space where no question is silly, no one feels judged, and everyone leaves knowing more than they did when they arrived.

Hosted by Louise Lunt, Sorrymate Director & WAM Associate

The event is hosted by Louise Lunt, Director of Sorrymate and a WAM (Women in the Automotive & Motorcycle industry) Associate.

Louise is an advanced IAM qualified rider and has long been passionate about supporting female bikers in the community. She understands both the legal and practical realities riders face and has built her career around protecting motorcyclists after accidents.

This event reflects that same passion – prevention, empowerment and community support.

Louise will be leading the afternoon, facilitating discussions and ensuring the environment remains welcoming, informative and inclusive.

On the Tools: Peter Eaton – 2StrokesRacing Team Manager

Getting hands-on guidance from someone who truly knows their craft makes all the difference.

That’s why we’re delighted to have Peter Eaton, Team Manager at 2StrokesRacing, demonstrating maintenance tips and practical techniques on the day.

Peter brings real-world experience from the racing paddock and workshop floor. He’ll be walking attendees through:

  • Basic motorcycle safety checks
  • Chain maintenance and adjustment guidance
  • Tyre awareness and what to look for
  • Fluid checks and general upkeep tips
  • Common issues riders should recognise early

It’s about learning what to look for before small problems become big ones.

A Relaxed Setting at The Tap, Eastham Ferry

We couldn’t think of a better location than The Tap at Eastham Ferry. A biker-friendly venue with a welcoming atmosphere, it’s the perfect setting for a community-focused afternoon.

This isn’t a high-pressure workshop. It’s an informal, supportive gathering where riders can ask questions, share experiences and build confidence.

Expect practical demos, real conversations, and a room full of like-minded bikers.

Supporting Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes

This event isn’t just about maintenance.

100% of ticket proceeds are being donated to the Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes.

The Blood Bikes are a charitable organisation providing free emergency transport of blood, plasma, platelets, samples, medication and medical supplies for the NHS.

The riders are volunteers. They give up their time to keep vital services moving across the region, often through the night and in all weather conditions.

At Sorrymate, we proudly support the Blood Bikes because bikers supporting the community is what it’s all about.

By attending this event, you’re not only investing in your own riding confidence — you’re directly supporting a lifesaving local charity.

Who Is This Event For?

This afternoon is ideal for:

  • New female riders wanting to build mechanical confidence
  • Returning riders looking to refresh their knowledge
  • Experienced riders who want to understand more about their machine
  • Anyone who prefers learning in a supportive, female-focused environment

No prior mechanical knowledge is needed. Just bring your enthusiasm and questions.
