Motorcycle Live 2024!
Its that time of year again when the motorbike community makes its annual pilgrimage to the NEC to view the very latest on show in the industry.
This year sees MCL mixing it up a bit with a festival on each of the Saturday nights with live music and displays.
There’s hundred of bikes on display, both new and old, and if you have never been before this is your chance to sit on as many bikes as you can to get a feeling for what riding position and seat height suits you best.
All the major bike manufacturers are there, with their shiny new models on display.
Aside from bike viewing the main stage has guest speakers, challenges and live displays of motorcycle maintenance and repairs, and is a good place to take a break from the hustle and bustle.
There’s a bit of something for everyone here.
For novice riders there is a safety simulator that measures reaction times, and some of the dealers have bikes on rollers for you to try out.
For the smaller amongst us who feel a bit nervous about taking the plunge with a big bike, BMW Motorrad in Hall 4 are teaching skills that help you find the bike balance point. Louise had a go at this, and managed to work her way around the bike holding it with just one hand without dropping it..the it being a GS1300
If you remember your licence (must be riding for at least one year) and can get there for 10am you can put your name down for a test ride. It was snowing on one of the days this week though so you would certainly be testing your bike skills in those conditions.
For those of us who love a bargain, there are plenty to be had in the marketplace section. We would recommend getting your shopping list and prices before you get there if you’re looking for something specific, as once you are there internet reception is pretty poor so its difficult to compare prices online.
For the boy racers amongst us the BSB moto trainers are there. Race your friends, or even a BSB rider, there’s plenty of them walking around, and enjoy the feeling of the BSB circuits on a life size bike!
There’s loads of competitions and give aways, and plenty of things to have a go at.
We’ve got our new SMIDSY loyalty cards with us too and have a competition running daily for sign ups, so be sure to look for us.
We have Motorcycle Action Group and Yorkshire Air Ambulance on our stand too this year so look us up in Hall 3.
See you there!
