James Buckett

JB Racing is my amateur motorcycle racing team - I'm James Buckett, and my passion is racing motorbikes! I dont get paid for... doing this - in fact, it costs a small fortune, but I love it - and i'm supported by a talented team of people and businesses, many of them who help me out in their own time or their own way.

I started racing in 1999 in the MRO Supersport 600 championship. Whilst I race short circuit in the UK, the highlight for me is real road racing - and my goal is to do more of that - Isle of Mann (Manx GP), Southern 100, Scarborough and maybe Ireland. I have competed in the MGP 4 times. Newcomers year was 2005, then in 2006 and 2007. I then took a break from racing on the Island focussing on short circuits in the UK and returned to the MGP last year. I came back to the MGP after a break of 7 years and finished in 10th on a bike that I had built and tuned. I'm working towards an even better result in 2015 and with a major sponsor like Sorrymate this makes the journey a little easier. To even get to the MGP is a massive team effort and we have to compete at short circuit races to even qualify. This takes a considerable amount of time, effort and money.

With the support from Sorrymate for the rest of the 2015 season and the build up to the 2016 MGP and Classic TT. I have big plans for 2016, as well as competing with BEMSEE at short circuit championships. I will be entering the Lightweight, Junior and Senior, races at the Manx Grand Prix. The team is building a period ZXR750 which I intend to race in selected short circuit and classic events in preparation for next year’s Classic TT F1. The longer term plan is to continue to support our sponsors and add value to the Sorrymate brand, with a view to competing in more road races in Ireland and classic events in the UK and on the continent.
